Cape Hatteras Natl Seashore – Beach Drive

During November, I reviewed many campers, pull trailers and roof top options.  I had been looking for months and asking lots of questions.  Of course I said: NEVER a roof top tent. I would slip on the ladder.  It was hard to open and close.  Then, the camper I wanted to order was going to take a while to produce, install, etc and I was ready to explore.  I had trips planned, and I did not want to miss out or ground tent in winter.

So, a used RTT was found and I drove to Matthews, NC to purchase and transfer to the Tacoma.  It was the first big change for the truck. It didn’t last long as other trips were delayed and my camper was ready earlier than I ever expected.  There are pros and cons to purchasing used.  For the RTT, it was already on a rack, set up, and it was supposed to be a lift and shift.  It was a bit more than that and it was a lot of clean up to make it ready for use.

Other tips I learned:

• Take your own tools, tie downs, and always let others know where you will be
• You can walk away from a purchase – and maybe I should have but it all worked out

• Im never going to learn if I never “do”.
